This morning, I found myself reflecting on a Yoruba adage: “Igba o tan lo bi orere, aye o to lo bi opa iban,” which translates to “Time doesn’t really stay forever, and this world is not as long as the tail of a gun.” It’s a profound reminder that our time on Earth is limited and fleeting.
As I observe how God has been lifting people around me lately, I am reminded of the importance of seizing every moment and making the most of what we have. We often get caught up in our daily lives, thinking we have all the time in the world. But the truth is, we must act now and invest our time wisely.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 tells us, “For everything, there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” This scripture emphasizes the importance of recognizing the different seasons of our lives and responding accordingly. Every encounter we have is an opportunity to uplift and support those around us.
In this journey, let’s remember to treat others with kindness and respect. You never know who might be looking up to you. The person you think is insignificant today could become your role model tomorrow. Proverbs 22:1 reminds us, “A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold.”
It has been quite a wonder how God elevates individuals. When we treat others well, we create a ripple effect of positivity that can inspire greatness. As Matthew 7:12 states, “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”
Today, let’s commit to being a source of encouragement and support for those around us. Treat people well, and you’ll be amazed at how it transforms your life and the lives of others. Time may not be on our side, but the impact of our actions can last a lifetime.
